Welcome to the Institute of Biomedicine
The Institute of Biomedicine was founded in 2006 as a result of an amalgamation of four earlier existing institutes. We have approximately 300 employees and 150 Ph.D. students and an annual turnover of 230 million Swedish kronor. The institute has a wide range of programmes and courses in medicine, odontology and pharmacy.
A number of departments within the institute are affiliated with clinical medicine, enabling new possibilities for cooperation between academia and clinical medicine and in transitional research. The majority of the core facilities within the Sahlgrenska Academy are led by researchers from the institute.
